Wenty Leagues is Serving Up the Perfect Plate

Wenty Leagues is thrilled to announce its participation in ClubsNSW annual Perfect Plate competition, the club industry’s premier dining event aimed at highlighting the extraordinary quality and diversity of food available at clubs throughout New South Wales (NSW). After taking out the top prize in 2021, Statewide Winner – Large Club, Wenty Leagues are excited to do it all over again, serving up a mouth-watering dish that embodies culinary excellence and is ready to captivate the taste buds of diners.  

Perfect Plate is a unique competition that places the power of determining a winner in the hands of the diners themselves, as they are invited to enjoy a variety of dishes prepared by talented chefs from participating clubs across NSW. After enjoying their dish, diners can scan a dedicated QR code and complete a form to submit their scores, ranging from one to five. Voting will remain open until July 9, 2023. 

Wenty Leagues’ entry into the Perfect Plate competition is a feast for the senses. Created by the talented Sous Chef, Ferdinand De Leon, the dish features a 12-hour Slow-Cooked Smoked Beef Cheek and accompanied with potato gratin, truffled wild mushrooms, cavolo nero, dutch carrots, with a bush tomato relish and red wine jus. Ferdinand, who has been honing his skills at Wenty Leagues for 4.5 years, shared his inspiration behind the dish. 

“I wanted our guests to experience a homey dish elevated to restaurant quality, something that evokes a warm feeling during the winter season,” explained Ferdinand. “The addition of smokey flavours and the use of native Australian bush tomatoes make this dish truly special and unique.” 

Reflecting on his passion for cooking, Ferdinand expressed, “Creating new dishes and tasting them is a great experience for me. It’s a continuous learning process, and the positive feedback from guests makes me happy.” 

The Perfect Plate competition has been embraced by all staff, who each play their part in serving this perfect dish up to patrons. Wenty Leagues invites food enthusiasts and club-goers alike to experience their Perfect Plate entry and indulge in the culinary masterpiece crafted by Chef Ferdinand De Leon.
