The kitchen will help service over 1,000 students, 38 of which have learning difficulties, behaviour disorders and/or a disability.
With the addition of this new kitchen to the school’s facilities, Girraween Public School will be able to
implement a new High Quality Curriculum and Project Based Learning program specifically for the children with special learning needs.
The kitchen will allow the students to engage in maths and literacy lessons with cooking and food themes as well as learn practical real-world skills through working with fresh food products sourced from the school’s veggie garden and helping to prepare meals.
Director Trevor Simpson opens the new kitchen with School Principal, Glenn Walker, and Assistant Principal for the Support Unit, Joanne Ferns
