Teaching a system of unarmed defensive techniques
Goshin Ju-Jitsu teaches a system of unarmed defensive techniques, using an attacker’s momentum against them, which is traditionally based and adapted for modern day situations. It is a modern form of the ancient Ju-Jitsu system, where knowledge, not strength, is required to defeat your attackers. Ju-Jitsu is a Japanese martial art that can be enjoyed by women, men and children from 8 years of age.
What you need to become a competent Ju-Jitsu practitioner is an open mind, discipline, and the ability to apply your skills during unexpected circumstances. The objectives are to provide you with the ability to effectively defend yourself and give you the confidence and mental strength. It provides you with self-discipline, initiative and the skill to overcome a threat.
Ju-Jitsu provides other skills as well. Training will increase your sense of self awareness and awareness of others around you. Your ability to react in a self-defense situations without the need for thought will improve and become instinctive as you mature into the style. Ju-Jitsu is not about strength and power – it is more about applying your strength of mind and knowledge to manipulate and overcome the physical strength of your attacker. Achieved by using locks, throws and submissions together with the use of strikes, punches and kicks. Additionally, it creates opportunity to meet new people and be part of a unique method of self-defense.
