Making Christmas Special for Those in Need
While the festive season is often a time of joy, for many in our community, it is also a time of hardship. As the need for basic supplies, food, and support continues to grow each year, the urgency to help our most vulnerable neighbours becomes even more pressing during the holidays.
This Christmas, our members and guests have shown incredible generosity by supporting our community partner, Parramatta Mission, through the “Plate for a Mate” initiative. Patrons were invited to purchase a plate for just $5 or $10, with all proceeds going directly towards Parramatta Mission, ensuring that someone who might otherwise go without will have a Christmas lunch. Through this initiative we were able to raise $2,770. This small contribution has a powerful impact, helping to provide a festive meal for those in our community who are experiencing homelessness, financial hardship, or isolation.
Each year, Parramatta Mission works tirelessly to provide essential services and support to vulnerable individuals and families in our local community. Many of these individuals face a lack of access to basic resources, which makes the holiday season particularly difficult. For them, a Christmas lunch is not just a meal – it’s a chance to feel cared for and connected, to experience a sense of belonging, and to find comfort during a time of year that can otherwise be filled with loneliness and hardship.
The generosity of our patrons and community members has been inspiring, and we are proud to have played a part in helping make this holiday season a little brighter for those in need.
