Our New Way to Welcome You

The Master Plan has ushered in the biggest changes to the club throughout its 50+ year history. The introduction of a new grand entrance foyer is the latest upgrade which features spacious interior and modern architecture designed to create an elevated atmosphere upon arrival.

With more developments still in progress, the new foyer is positioned to act as the central hub to access many of Wenty Leagues’ upgraded facilities. A significant feature of the new entrance, is a porte cochere built to let vehicles pass directly in front for pick up and drop offs. Undercover up to the adjacent driveway, the porte cochere is highlighted by a signature water feature representing the wing of Wenty Leagues’ iconic magpie logo. Stepping back, patrons can also admire a custom built roofline resembling the shape of a ‘W.’ Finally, parking just got more convenient with over 100 premium car parking spaces directly in front of the entrance.

Contributing to our community and our future by upgrading our facilities ensures that members and guests have a place to continue and enjoy special moments at Wenty Leagues.

A home away from home, we continue our commitment to being your venue of choice for exceptional hospitality.

The Plaza’s Development Journey

Welcoming the Multi-Storey Car Park

The opening of the carpark is just weeks away and it cannot come at a better time with the heat of summer upon us. Returning to a hot car will no longer be an issue as our new multi-storey carpark will not only keep your car shaded from the elements but will also be a shorter walk to the club entrance.

Along with delivering 780 new spaces, two passenger lifts will connect all levels for added convenience. The building is extremely well lit and is monitored by CCTV to ensure the safety and security for all our members and visitors. If you’ve driven along the Great Western Highway recently, you’ve no doubt seen the exciting spectacle that is a large multi-storey magpie that features on the corner of the structure.

Other significant features of the car park include:

  • Six levels of parking
  • Generous line distances for spaces
  • Significant turning room
  • Better traffic flow to scan for empty spaces
  • Undercover walkway to club entrance (to be built in 2019)

Building of the first part of our multi-outlet casual dining precinct, The Plaza continues to remain on schedule. The framework for the roof line has been installed which will form level 1 of the building and will connect into the new main foyer and porte-cochere. Construction for this section will be completed in 2019.

PLAN YOUR VISIT – As we continue the construction of our Master Plan, there will be external areas of the club covered with hoarding. For guidance on how to access club facilities, please refer to signage for direction or contact our friendly Reception team on (02) 8868 9200.

Surpassing the Halfway Mark

As we lean into the warmer months of the year, every day sees new features added to both sites as the final structure continues to take shape. Hard work, good planning and consistent dry weather, has provided the opportunity for construction to pass well beyond the halfway point. The excitement is building as we get closer to officially unveiling the culmination of months of work.

In what was previously the undercroft carpark area adjacent to the main foyer, new administration, staff and back of house facilities have been successfully delivered. This will become significant to our members, as the original administration area currently occupies prime real estate on the rooftop level which in 2019 is scheduled for demolition. This will allow us to make way for a large function centre that will cater for all types of business and social events. This function space will contain two interconnecting rooms that can cater for 150 people or can open to cater for 300. There will be another two rooms which can cater for smaller groups of 50 people but can also open up to cater for 100. Along with state-of-the-art AV facilities, guests will be able to mingle in a pre-function lounge that will be located in the atrium space directly above the new main foyer.

The six-level multideck carpark is also nearing completion. The carpark is expected to be finalised prior to Christmas and will deliver 780 new spaces, of which 650 will be covered from the elements. Two passenger lifts will connect all levels for convenience and at time of print, the cladding is being installed for the front façade.

This façade will be an exciting spectacle as a large multistorey magpie will feature on the corner of the Great Western Highway entry driveway and be illuminated by signage proudly displaying the Wenty Leagues logo on multiple sides of the building.

Further to the good news, ADCO are on track to deliver Stage A of their building program in the first quarter of 2019. At this time, we will open the first part of our multioutlet casual dining precinct, The Plaza. This area will include numerous internal and alfresco dining options and seating for up to 850 people. An exciting feature currently being built is a unique roof line which will form level 1 of the building and connect into the new main foyer and porte-cochere. Construction for this section will be completed in 2019.

Exciting Milestones Reached

Construction has passed the halfway mark for the multistorey carpark and thanks to consistent dry weather, is still on track for completion later this year. The parking area is a significant upgrade to the Club’s facilities and will offer over 780 car spaces. After taking a tour inside the work-in-progress, there are significant advantages immediately revealed about the structure. The first noticeable characteristic is the style of flow for cars moving through the levels. The style allows drivers to scan levels quickly for any availabilities making searching for spaces easier. As drivers progress through the levels, there is also significant room for turning the vehicle up or down the ramps to reduce incident and when pulling into an actual space, generous line distances
create more room between parked cars.

To go along with its functional qualities, attention to detail has also been placed on aesthetic appeal. The front façade includes a striking design which immediately draws attention from passer-bys on the Great Western Highway. This piece will be constructed in the coming months at the same time
the elevators will be installed. Finally, construction will begin on an undercover walkway from the carpark to the Club which is monitored by CCTV to ensure safety and security for all our members and visitors.

On the opposite side of the Club, a major milestone was reached during the construction of the multi-outlet casual dining precinct. On Friday 6 July, a decking out party with ADCO and subcontractors commemorated the main structure being built for the Ground, Plaza and Level 1. Now, it is onto the next stage – structural steel works which will begin to form areas including Alfresco Dining, Pavilion and the roof.

From these photos you can see the second level of the multi-storey car park is now complete and if dry weather continues, the whole structure will be on track for completion in late 2018. The parking area is a significant upgrade to the Club’s facilities and will offer 780 car spaces, two lifts connecting all levels, CCTV security and for added convenience, a counter at the entrance advising
patrons of available spaces.

Construction is now well underway on the next stage of the Master Plan as the excitement builds during this important milestone for the Club. The new multi-storey carpark will slowly be rising out of the ground as Lipman, the builders for this project progress with construction. This car park will provide approximately 780 new car spots and will eventually be joined to the new foyer via a covered walk way. For now, the expected completion date is late 2018.

As our bowlers enjoy the finished new all-weather bowling green, our second group of builders, ADCO, have established onsite. They are in the process of removing bowling green #1 (that was closest to the club) in readiness for a new exciting addition to the Club. Below ground an extension to the warehouse, back of house areas and a central kitchen will be constructed.   At ground level a new multi-outlet casual dining precinct will be constructed. This area will feature four new outlets with seating for over 850 people, a larger, improved Kids play, an Alfresco dining option and a mixed use function pavilion. Completion of this stage is due in March 2019.

This building work has resulted in the Smith Street carpark and entrance being closed and we ask members to follow the directional signage to the new carpark and club entrance.

Finally, the hoarding that has been erected near the main entrance to the club hides the construction of administration offices that will be relocated from the roof of the club. This area of roof top will be converted into a modern function centre that will provide much needed function and meeting space for our members looking to host social events and our corporate customers looking for to hold their meetings here at Wenty Leagues.

All this work has come with some changes to how we do things and some unavoidable inconveniences to our members and their guests. We thank you for your patience during this work and please be assured we are working tirelessly to ensure the disruption is kept to a minimum. We remind members that the courtesy bus is available for your convenience and bookings can be made by contacting the club Reception.
