The Big Spin: Pedalling with Purpose to Support Families in Need
On Friday 5 September, we proudly joined Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Western Sydney (RMHC GWS) for The Big Spin—a high-energy, 12-hour spin cycling challenge held at the picturesque Bennelong Lawn in Sydney’s Royal Botanic Garden.
Alongside other corporate and community groups, we were 1 of 70 spin bikes and everyone collectively clocked over 25,000 kilometres. The atmosphere was electric, with live music, energetic instructors, and incredible team spirit driving everyone forward hour after hour. The event raised more than $550,000, which will go directly towards supporting seriously ill children and their families staying at Ronald McDonald House in Westmead.
It was truly inspiring to see so many people come together, united by a shared purpose to help ease the burden for families whose children are undergoing life-saving treatment. Every kilometre pedalled made a difference.
We were honoured to be part of such a meaningful event that directly supports families going through some of the toughest times of their lives. Funds raised will help RMHC GWS provide warm, welcoming accommodation, nutritious meals, and ongoing emotional support to families staying close to their children receiving critical care at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
The event also offered a valuable opportunity for team bonding and community connection. Whether you rode for 15 minutes or pushed through multiple hours, everyone played a part in making the day a success.
This year’s event marked significant growth from last year, with more bikes, more teams, and even greater impact. The incredible fundraising total is a testament to the generosity and determination of all involved.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the event organisers, volunteers, sponsors, and every rider who contributed. We’re already looking forward to next year’s Big Spin and the chance to make an even bigger difference.
